The “Conservative Christian Right” in the USA, has the potential to be radicalised under the current administration. In an attempt to adhere to Christian values and make America great, they risk creating a group of believers who may adopt different tactics in evangelism. This is not to say it would be violent but would certainly cause division regarding the core understanding and value of theology within what ports to be Republican Religiosity.
In attempt to assuage the church, Mr Trump has made serious steps to counter recent decisions with a spiritual countermeasure. This will not work and cause a schism within mainstream Christianity. Reformation, revolution and revival are core aspects of the faith and when something new peeks over the pew with a view to improve the situation, argument occurs, which as history shows us, causes separation; the birth of the Church of England, Diet of Worms, Calvinism being such examples.

Inasmuch as Mr Trump may be wanting to alleviate his guilt by seeming religious, it will actually cause greater harm and division, which is more in line with his current reality whereby he is promoting regressive moves regarding gender, identity and truth itself.

“What is truth?*” asked Pilate. Well, if President Trump doesn’t know now, he never will.
He should form an ecumenical panel and address the issues he feel relevant towards this team of independent, theological & philosophical minds, chosen without bias, so he can truly hear what the respective biblical opinions and interpretations are. I doubt Mr Trump will have the time to learn the relevant arguments, so he should assign this to one he seems fit, without agenda and being commensurate to the outcome. At least then, he have some understanding of truth and Christian theology.
The church being noncameral in the US means that there is a line between politics and faith, that one allegedly does not affect the other. The ‘truth’ here is that one only affects the other when a politician deems it necessary. The President should assign such tasks to one who, at least, claims to know what they are talking about and  appears knowledgeable. If this person is not within Mr Trump’s ‘team,’ then he should earnestly seek someone he trusts to lead discussions, otherwise any such endeavour will be tainted with prejudice towards the preferred, favored side. If it’s decided to split and form a separate American Commuinion, then I pray and hope it includes diversity, as Christ walks with sinners, not the saints!
